Changeable spring weather, squally showers and stormy conditions yesterday led to the abandonment of Hexham’s fixture. Plenty of rain at Newcastle has eased the ground for their St Patrick’s Day fixture tomorrow to soft. Should dry back a little and not sure ideal for our two runners but race conditions suit well otherwise and we will give it a go.
First up is Suspected in the 14.45, a busy race and he is still learning his job but this bumper winner ought to prove much better than his current rating in time. He seemed to get stuck in the mud in very testing conditions at Wetherby last time so hoping the ground will be much better tomorrow and he has a chance to take a step forward – 17 run and Bruce rides.

L’Appel du Large runs in the bumper at 17.10 and is another that we are just looking forward to see some progress after his somewhat underwhelming debut over course and distance. If he handles the ground, which is a question mark, then I’d expect significant progress as we’ve been able to train him properly since then – 15 run and Bruce rides.

The tremendous racing continues and whilst there is yet to be a Northern trained winner I have been delighted to see how well they have run with many of them making the frame, an excellent “placed” strike rate and hopefully we will be back at the Festival before too long.
