Blustery sort of day, April showers.  Delighted with My Lady Elektra winning in great style at Kelso yesterday for her Owner/Breeders John and Janie Walker – patience rewarded at last.  Maillot Blanc put up an excellent performance to finish a close third but for some reason Kingsman Mail and Gorvennec were never really at the races.

My Lady Elektra puts in another spectacular jump on her way to winning

Double header for the yard tomorrow with three declared runners at Carlisle and one at Haydock.  Ground at both is likely just to be on the soft side of good and I’d be very pleased if some of the showers eased the ground a bit.  First up is Orkney Blue returning to his winning course and distance at Carlisle in the 13.13 – he seems in good form and should go well back in novice company, Kevin Brogan rides and 7 run.

Next up is TakeyoutotheIsland in the 14.23; we are very much hoping for an improved performance now he steps up in trip on some better sort of ground, Kevin rides again and 10 run.

Over to Haydock next where Dubai Days runs in the valuable £100k Veterans Chase Final at 15.20; runner up in this race two years ago off 1lb lower, he is a course and distance winner who should be fine on the ground.  It is an ultra competitive race but very open and if he is on his A game then it might be very exciting!  Bruce rides and 17 run.

Finally Half Track runs in the 16.40 at Carlisle – he has good course and distance form and will prove very well handicapped at some point, well I hope he will.  Trying a visor this time as he needs to learn to focus again in his races, Dom rides and 9 run.
