Wet this morning, very, nature playing catch up after such a dry year and gales on their way. Winter in Scotland, Ayr abandoned today but it looks OK down at Hexham for tomorrow’s fixture and the ground will be heavy. We have two runners starting with Whiskey on Ice making his stable debut in the maiden hurdle at 13.25. He has some decent summer form in the book and on paper is “best in” for this race, however the ground conditions are a huge unknown and he does face a very smart hurdling debut from flat racing, plus a smart bumper horse – just be interesting to find out where we are with him, 8 run and Bruce rides.

Orkney Blue runs in the feature chase at 14.55; he showed good form at the track in a bumper and a hurdle and should be fine on the ground. He’s very inexperienced relative to the oposition but if he can get into a nice rhythm over his fences he could run well. He seems in great form, 8 run and Bruce rides.

On to Newcastle on Thursday where we run two nice horses on ground that is good to soft. Hope it might ease a little further for Whathaveyou who runs in the maiden hurdle at 12.45. He ran a lovely race on hurdling debut at Ayr last month and should build on that, 10 run and Bruces rides.

Finally we run L’Appel du Large in the bumper at 15.15. He is a well bred horse with plenty of ability, like most of ours he will improve a lot for this debut, 12 run and Bruce rides.

Some good runs in defeat over the weekend and yesterday, most particularly Bel Amigo finishing 2nd at Kelso and Artic Mann 3rd at Musselburgh yesterday.
