8 runners at Kelso tomorrow and a runner at Haydock on Saturday

Cold again tonight, sleety showers around. A good day at Newcastle today with My Kiwi Girl improving again but unfortunately being beaten by a Willie Mullins raider and Ozzy Cosmo coming back to form to finish third.

On to Kelso tomorrow where the ground is likely to be soft, hopefully not too holding, and we have 8 runners so it is going to be busy afternoon!

We have 2 runners in the Conditional Jockeys Staying Handicap Hurdle at 1:50, Eloi Du Puy (Bruce) and Theme Tune (Dom). Eloi Du Puy won three times at the track last season and is making a belated start this season having had a setback in the autumn. He seems fit and well, though is entitled to be a little rusty. Theme Tune should strip a lot fitter this time than he did on his comeback run at Haydock so hopefully can play more of a part, though the trip is possibly on the sharp side for him – 13 run.

In the 2:20 we run Burning It Up; he is gradually getting his act together over hurdles and whilst he should improve again tomorrow, he will be better over further in time. Bruce rides and 7 run.

We are again doubly represented in the 2 mile Handicap Hurdle at 2:50 with Mack The Man (Kit) and Ginger Mail (Bruce).

Mack The Man came out on top when the pair met over course and distance in the autumn but has regressed since, whereas Ginger Mail won well last time over further at Ayr and was second in this contest last year. The plan is to change tactics with Mack The Man and see what happens, Ginger Mail ought to run very well if he can repeat the form of his last race. 7 run in a competitive looking heat.

Ned Tanner runs in the feature chase at 3:20, a race he was running well in last season when coming down at the second last. He is in great form at present and can hopefully run well again off a light weight up in grade. 4 run and Danny rides.

Gaillimh A Stor reverts to fences in the 3:50 after running very well to only just be beaten on his last two starts over hurdles; he has schooled well, his chase mark is slightly lower, and he won a point to point so deserves a chance to make his mark over the larger obstacles – 4 run and Bruce rides.

Finally we run Lester Mail, Ginger and Elvis’s little brother, in the bumper at 4:50 (in the dark?!) – he has improved and strengthened up nicely since his debut at Ayr so we will hopefully see some improvement tomorrow. 7 run and Bruce rides.

On Saturday, Dubai Days makes his belated seasonal reappearance at Haydock having also suffered a setback in the autumn. He seems fit and well and was second in the valuable final of this series in the spring last season so can hopefully give a good account – 6 run and Bruce rides.
