Another lovely day and good to be back on the yard to catch up after a long week at the Sales. Delighted with our purchase Manetti, like him even more now he is here, a little sad re our two departures but they sold well and it is important that we develop our business model to be prepared to move horses on with residual value and plenty left for the next man in order that our Owners can give younger horses a chance, we will never find the good ones otherwise and I shall follow them with interest.
A busy weekend ahead with a runner at Cartmel tomorrow then two at Kelso on Sunday – going at both given as good with good to firm places but a few showers around and will hopefully be well watered. Final Reminder is our runner at Cartmel in the mares staying handicap hurdle, this is a big step up in grade but the track, trip and ground (so long as not over-watered) should all suit well so it is worth giving her a chance to follow up her recent Ayr win, 7 run and Lucy rides.
Ladies Day at Kelso on Sunday promises to be very busy; Always Tipsy runs in the 4.25, he seems better on a softer surface these days over fences but he has experience on his side in this open novice handicap for a decent prize round a course and distance that he will like so it is looks like an opportunity worth taking so long as the ground isn’t too quick, 7 run and Lucy rides.
Accost then runs in a valuable mares bumper at 5.35, Lucy on board again and 10 run, she needs to step up considerably on her previous efforts but will like the sounder surface and will wear ear plugs to drown out the noise of all the Ladies who will be well on their way by that time of day!
