Northumbria beckons

A tricky spell of weather, a proper blizzard yesterday; I was watching from afar and Catch and the team did a brilliant job to exercise 38 horses in the circumstances, cold and sunny this morning but the trickiest of conditions with frozen semi-melted snow everywhere.

McGinty’s Dream (Kit) heading to the school first lot this morning

A little innovation required but the whole string had three canters in the snow, fresh horses so a few more unseats than we are used to but hopefully the all-weather will be serviceable again in the morning having been harrowed tonight.

Over the hills and far away..

One runner at Newcastle tomorrow where the ground will be particularly heavy, Gold Opera in the 4.30, 7 run and Brian Hughes rides, he seems in great heart, won’t mind the ground – it is a tight little handicap but I will be disappointed if he isn’t involved at the business end of the race.

Gold Opera

Back down the road to Corbridge on Sunday for the Tynedale point-to-point, Jamie will run Royal Chatelier and possibly Allthekingshorses as well if conditions aren’t too soft, Kit should have a few rides as well, then it’s Ayr on Monday…
