Ayr yesterday, Kelso tomorrow

A change in the weather this afternoon, cooler with showers after a glorious few days and delighted to get off the mark for the new season with a winner at Ayr yesterday; Final Reminder staying on strongly to win in good style and reward her owner Brian Castle’s patience – with luck she can go on from here.

Final Reminder at the last yesterday

Our other two runners were withdrawn on account of the drying ground and Kelso tomorrow is our next focus where I am hoping a proactive watering policy will have ensured good safe ground.

Always Tipsy (right)

Always Tipsy bids to follow up over course and distance in the 2.35, Lucy rides and 8 run, this is a step up in class and the ground will be very different; he handles good ground and goes there in good form but the question is whether this will prove enough of a test of stamina in the conditions- hope so!

Benny’s Secret

Benny’s Secret then runs in the 3.10, Lucy rides and 11 run, he won twice on good ground here late last year and whilst this is competitive enough it should be a lot easier than the big field handicap he ran in at Ayr’s SGN meeting, he was bit fresh and free that day and should run better tomorrow if he relaxes in the early stages.  After that we have a few entries for Hexham on Saturday then a lot of horses pencilled in for Perth’s two day meeting next week – let’s hope weather and watering combine to produce ground that we can race on safely.

The power of nature- this field had horses on it all winter and to be honest looked awful 2 weeks ago, looks great again already as it is rolled this morning
