Mild and sunny here today, a productive morning schooling a lot of the horses with most of the rest having a decent hack round the farm. One runner at Newcastle tomorrow on ground that will be on the fast side, Jet Master in the 1.40, Lucy rides and only 3 run.
He’s run very well in the last two renewals of this race and a small field is perfect for him so hopes are high (again!), he seems in good form. Busy day at Ayr yesterday and by and large very happy with our runners, most particularly Off the Hook and our two hurdling debutantes Manetti and Elvis Mail all of who ran above market expectations to be placed and should improve, plenty to look forward to with them this season.
Another Mattie ran with great credit to be 5th over an inadequate trip, Craiganboy was in the wrong race and definitely needs further, Killer Crow was disappointing and has an issue we will try to address. It’s a great privilege to be able to busy myself in the intriguing bubble of horseracing whilst the inevitable car crash of Brexit slowly unfolds; can’t help being struck by the irony of the juxtaposition of this week’s events with the poignant marking of the Centenary of Armistice Day, I just pray that someone somewhere finds the wisdom to sort this debacle – very hard to imagine who that someone is right now. Enough politics, back to horses!
