A wet day here yesterday and dull again today, we appear to be in one of those phases when the forecast for the next few days always looks good, it just never quite happens… It was fine up in Aberdeenshire yesterday where I had a thoroughly enjoyable day at the Dunecht Challenge raising money for the extremely worthy Sandpiper Trust – a charity that really makes a difference and its always fun enjoying oneself for a good cause!

Spinning Away. a mare I have always held in high regard, will race this season for an enthusiastic syndicate of new owners this season who gave generously to a great cause last night for the opportunity, let's hope the cards fall the right way for her this season.

Back home this morning and sorry to report that Lucy looks like being out for a few weeks with a suspected broken collar bone after Mandarin Sunset’s heavy, and very sadly fatal, fall at Uttoxeter on Thursday evening. ¬†Kit meanwhile is off to Sweden where is riding tomorrow, ¬†Marshmallows in the “Jockeyklubbens Hacklopning” at 2.35 and Pine Wood in the “Longines World Fegentri Championship” at 3pm, ¬†representing GB for the first time on the flat in the latter, I think the former is a hurdle – it’s Swedish jump racing’s big day with their Champion Hurdle and Grand National being staged in front of a 60,000 crowd apparently so the atmosphere should be terrific, home safe please.

I love this photograph Mike Bishop took of Lucy in the stalls at Hamilton last week, an x-ray on Monday is likely to confirm she has broken her collar bone
