A fun if somewhat fruitless trip to Haydock yesterday, superb racing, and mission accomplished for Ceilidh who travelled nicely into her debut race before tiring in the home straight, she was eased and well-beaten but this was good company and I think she will prove progressive in time, Milano Magic also finished down the field, he was almost overly fresh before the race, possibly wasn’t as effective on the soft ground and pulled a front shoe off which may not have helped, he might go to Hexham in a couple of weeks otherwise fences beckon, both horses fine today.20131119-F13_3658_original (1) ¬†Back on the gallops here this morning, cold and clear and a good bit of work for most of the horses, things went slightly astray second lot when trainers “frostometer” went wrong and we had to abort fast work in the grass but they had a good scamper round the farm to freshen them up, 5 or 6 miles stop start then once up the all-weather. ¬†Another serious feast for NH fans this afternoon, the season has really come alive now and most encouraged to see the runner up to Rossini’s Dancer at Aintree narrowly denied in a valuable race at Ascot – keen to get him out again soon and a lot of the others, hopefully have a few runners next week at Wetherby, Newcastle and Carlisle.
