A long but rewarding day yesterday with Noir et Vert finishing 2nd in the Club race, Flaming Thistle 2nd of 15 in the Maiden and Ocarina running out the convincing winner of the Mixed Open.  He has been a revelation this season winning 5 of his last six starts and is a close second in the Northern Area Champion Horse Award.  It is neck and neck in the Hunt competition as well with the Percy nosing in front of Fife early on yesterday before we retook the lead, I’m not sure of the precise position at the end of a day when Victor Thompson saddled no less than 14 runners in their cause but we are going to have to concede honorably on both fronts as unfortunately Kit’s Finals at Durham University take precedence next weekend.  Its been a season to remember with 9 winners from 26 runners only 3 of which weren’t placed along with 2 winners from 5 runners in Hunter Chases – the horses looked and ran really well all season and were a credit to the team here and their two riders.  We have amassed some fine silverware including this splendid trophy won yesterday.
