Fine weather today after yesterday’s gloom but we missed the worst of the rain so no complaining, quiet at the yard with the horses having a spell on the horsewalker and in the paddocks. A fine trip to Cartmel yesterday, the rain generally stayed away and there was a tremendous party atmosphere; Lucy’s best was a close second on Gold Chain, frustratingly carried out on hot favourite and course specialist Soul Magic in the 2m handicap chase thanks to some injudicious riding, the Stewards held an inquiry but due to the absence of a “head-on” camera were unable to review the incident properly – is that acceptable in this day and age? – a nasty incident  that could have been a very nasty incident, just hope the horse is OK.  Anyway, great to see her back riding and clearly very fit despite her absence with five rides on the day and she goes back there tomorrow to ride Scotswell in the 4.10 and Sergeant Pink in the 4.45.

All the fun of the fair at a cloudy but largely dry Cartmel yesterday
