A stormy weekend forecast, classic weather for the Jedforest point-to-point on Sunday, not sure whether it will be gales, floods or snow – probably all three but let’s hope it is on, we plan to run Noir et Vert and King Brex in the Men’s Open; the former should go well but he is getting on a bit, King Brex is making his debut in this code and we don’t really know whether he will stay, he will come on for the run but he is in very good form.

Noir et Vert - JFA

Noir et Vert – JFA

Will be an early start here as we have five possible runners at Ayr on Monday and they will need to go out for a spin before I sit down at my computer and start huffing and puffing about which to actually run; ¬†speaking of huffing and puffing I have been entertained by the widely varied reaction to this week’s astonishing betting coup, I can’t quite decide which camp I am in, we all love to see the large bookmakers being thumped and it is very clever to have all the right horses ready for the right races on the day, I don’t think it is damaging for racing but I do hope they have a very close look at the horses’ previous runs, the line between being clever and cheating can be a little bit grey. ¬†Grotty weather today but heart warmed by fresh horses out exercising, Buffalo Ballet, Daasij, Or de Grugy and Midnight Legend 4yo (Olly) out on the grass, the rest on the AW, all seem fit, hard, healthy and fresh, great for the time of the year, Little Glenshee on the mend after her tumble, Blackmore off to Milldeans for a “spell”, Been Decided back here – the freshest of them all! Another cracking days racing on TV today, for NH fans there has now been a great sequence of fascinating Saturdays – can’t wait.
