A slow, slow spring – we have let quite a few horses down and they are ready to go to grass but it isn’t the weather and there is next to no grass for them anyway. They are having an easy time and the odd hour out in the field but it would be wrong to turn them away properly. Hopefully that will change in the next 10 days but no sign yet, at least we have the farm “drilled up” and the place seems in much better shape than it was a month ago. Disappointing to realise that with one thing or another I am going to have very few (if any) horses to run at Perth through the summer, such good prize money and I am sure it won’t be too hard to secure some of it – I would love to be able to put a couple of partnerships together to source a couple of value horses with this in mind – please do contact me if you are interested, am sure it will be fun and you never know we might make a few bob if we are canny.
A wonderful week in many respects as an incredible number of congratulatory emails, letters, texts and messages of every sort have been received for Lucy, I think it being an exciting finish made many more people aware of it and the media coverage she has been amazing; she deserves it and needs her profile to be raised as the first season after being a conditional can be a notoriously difficult one, thank you everyone.
No runners at Hexham tomorrow, hopefully a couple at the Lauderdale point-to-point on Sunday and then at Kelso on Wednesday.
