A glorious spring day and swallows to greet me first thing which means surely the everlasting winter is over.
It has been a tense week awaiting the outcome of Lucy’s tests today but I am delighted to report that she was cleared and therefore should be able to ride at Perth next week. Too late for Ayr today where she would have had a good book of rides and nothing there tomorrow so all being well she will resume at Newcastle on Sunday where we run Academy in the 4.20, ground should be decent, 13 run, he isn’t the most straightforward to train but if he can reproduce the form of his run at Musselburgh then he shouldn’t be far away.
Lucy also rides Smart Ruler in the 3.50. Not enough has really been made of Willie Mullins’ fantastic achievement in winning the world’s second most valuable chase in Japan last week, quite extraordinary for him and Ruby to be able to fit that in amidst the busiest time of the season over here – well worth watching, particularly for the post race interview – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgNED0qxyIM
Frank was in yesterday, so some spring pictures from him and me, you can see the rest of his here – http://frankcornfield.photodeck.com/-/galleries/client-galleries/kinneston/kinneston-18apr13
