Quiet weather today, mild, spring like conditions and busy with the horses; working on the all-weather and the grass, schooling some of the imminent runners.  Back home lunchtime yesterday after a 4.30 am start in the mountains at -19 degrees but an awesome weekend with Wicklow Lad putting up a career best on Saturday to win a competitive looking handicap chase at Newcastle under an intelligent ride from Kit.

Wicklow Lad, Kit and Amy - who are those two in the background? Am sure I recognize them..

We were listening in from afar, music to the ears, then on Sunday a crazy day racing on the frozen lake in St Moritz with Lucy doing well to finish 2nd on the outsider in the Arab race, it was all rather surreal and eccentric, a sort of bizarre point-to-point for billionaires, fascinating and very entertaining but I won’t be rushing to take horses over there. No runners this week until Kelso on Saturday when I hope we can produce a few runners for what looks like will be an excellent day’s racing.  Some pictures from the snow…

The racing surface- hardly a surprise they had problems but it appears they were unlucky, more snow than they have had for 50 years, difficult to compact and get it level as you can see
