Very wet overnight and a touch of snow this morning, cold, damp and mucky. Sedgefield eventually went ahead yesterday after (a record?) five official inspections, Dutch Canyon left his Wetherby running behind him as I hoped and ran a much better race to finish 3rd, we’re getting there slowly with him but will probably wait for better ground now. Clan Chief unfortunately burst a blood vessel and was pulled up 3 out having led for the first circuit, he is another who can now wait for better ground.
Off to Carlisle tomorrow where the ground is soft and Craiganboy makes his chasing debut in the 2.20, 7 run and Grant Cockburn rides, he’s not entirely straightforward and I’m not sure he is particularly well handicapped but he has been well schooled and this is a nice race to start him off in. After that we will be quiet prior to hopefully having runners at Ayr, Newcastle and Kelso next week. Lucy had scans yesterday but is to return for further assessment on Monday.
