Glorious weather continues, a cool wind but bright, sunny and warm in the afternoons when the wind dies down. Five runners at Perth this evening on well watered ground that was pleasingly consistent when I walked it on Monday evening. First runner is our French import Christmas in USA who makes his rules debut for the yard in the 5.50 after being a little unlucky in a couple of point-to-points, he has some very solid French from in the book which would give him a good chance on this but he has been on the go now for a long time, 12 run. Another horse to have started his career in France runs in the 6.20, Celestino, Lucy rides and 9 run; he ran well to be 3rd over hurdles here last time, I’m not convinced he will repeat that back here over fences despite having jumped well over the larger obstacles at Hexham but it’s worth a shot in a weak looking race.
Then Massini’s Lady runs in the 7.20, she ran no race at Hexham last time so we are hoping for some improvement on this better ground, Lucy rides and 14 run. Finally we have two runners in the Hunters Chase at 8.20, Royal Chatelier (Jamie) who has a good chance on paper but would prefer much softer ground and Isla Pearl Fisher (Kit) who wouldn’t have much chance on recent form but should love being back on good ground, 8 run.
A rapid trip to Northern Ireland yesterday where we saw about 20 horses over a few horses, mostly point-to-pointers and unraced horses there were some lovely prospects among them that will win plenty of races on the track.
