Roasting at Perth today and a huge crowd gathered to enjoy the sun, good competitive racing and a few drinks of course, some more than a few it would have appeared, anyway, who am I to talk!  The well watered ground was drying fast which led to plenty of non runners including Just Brooke in the last but we ran Jet Master who was a little unlucky in that he dropped his legs in the water jump (first one he had seen in his life – either all courses  should have one or no courses should have one), slipped on the bed and then clouted the first fence in the home straight just as he was making his move into the race.  No excuse for that but a little frustrating as the race was gone thereafter and the way he stayed on for 6th suggested he would have at least been involved in the minor placings.

Jet Master - back in the autumn when I hope he might eventually prove well handicapped.

He seems none the worse though and I suspect will now have a summer break prior to hopefully reappearing at Perth late in September.  Considerably more frustrating was Rock of Leon’s effort at Hexham yesterday when he only got as far as the 2nd fence prior to depositing Lucy on the ground, no harm done again, I think a quiet week for him the we will prepare him a little more aggressively for a run at Cartmel later this month.  Forecast remains very settled and I doubt we will see a drop of rain again this week, does make me worry what the rest of the summer may have in store but let’s enjoy it while it lasts, we have one entry at Aintree on Friday evening (Always Tipsy) but looking at the forecast he will probably head to Hexham next Saturday.
