Warm this morning, very warm, fed horses first thing in tee shirt – a rare occurrence indeed. Not the weather for National Hunt racing me thinks, let’s hope Perth have plenty of water on standby for it is there we head today with three runners if ground conditions are suitable. Good to firm, good in places despite two weeks watering and best part of an inch of rain late last week, tricky, fine for some.
We start with Bertie Milan in the 2.40, 7 run, he goes well round Perth and has had a nice little break since his last run but this is very different ground, Brian Harding rides as Lucy took a heavy fall schooling on Monday and sadly is not riding this week, she should be back later this month. Then in the 3.40 we run Andhaar, 8 run and Kit rides; this represents a nice drop in class and he seems fit, well and fresh.
Finally The Flaming Matron shoulders top weight in the 4.10, 9 run and Stephen rides, again a drop in class and again very different ground, she has been running poorly over fences lately but should appreciate the switch back to hurdles albeit off a somewhat higher mark.
