So the sun is back out this evening but much cooler today after a delightfully warm and sunny week which culminated in a wonderful atmosphere with a huge crowd of six thousand for Ladies Day at Perth yesterday.
Despite the lovely weather we had a disappointing day with Always Tipsy taking a crashing fall at the last hurdle having just moved clear of the field and looking likely to run out a convincing winner, whilst that was hard to take for connections luckily the horse is absolutely fine today which is a big relief and he will hopefully be out again soon though sadly the handicapper is likely to treat him as if he had won which always feels unfair.
Jet Master was far from in love with the ground and ran only OK to finish 5th whilst The Bishop wouldn’t go on it at all rather as I expected. Anyway we soon put the world to rights with a lovely end of season party for Owners and Staff courtesy of David and Vicky and their team at The Grouse and Claret, very enjoyable and hopefully we didn’t stay too late…. With Landecker a non-runner this evening at Aintree a mellow weekend beckons for the Trainer, no bad thing, a few visitors, some time to catch up with the horses and in the office before what looks like rather a hectic fortnight trying to source new talent at the sales. Not so mellow for Lucy who is going to enjoy a tour of middle England with a trip to Bangor (or is that in Wales?) tomorrow to ride Avidity in the 2.30 and Market Rasen on Sunday to ride Lycidas in the 2.10, we look likely to send Allthekingshorses (Jamie) to the point-to-point at Hexham on Sunday where Kit is also likely to have a few rides.
