Perth again this afternoon and only one runner for us, Bracing in the 5.35, 6 run, Lucy rides, ground soft – she looks up against it in what is quite a decent little bumper but will hopefully show some progression from her previous run.

Mixed fortunes last night with Humphrey Bee not really jumping out of the soft ground once they started racing in earnest, he picked up some decent place money for finishing 3rd but he should be much better on decent ground for which we will now wait. ¬†Back on the Road was a good 2nd in the Hunter Chase, his 8th start since late January he has proved a grand servant for Jamie and will hopefully squeeze in one more run before he has his long holiday, there is no doubt that the length of the break in the point-to-point/hunter chase season increases the longevity of these horses’ careers, touch wood of course. ¬†Unfortunately Blackmore went lame just after the last in the novice handicap hurdle, fired up with racing spirit it took until after the line for Lucy to bring him to a halt, he had given her a great feel and though outpaced turning for home he was staying on strongly when the injury ocurred.
