A week of poetically beautiful autumn mornings and none more so than today, gloriously crisp and sunny- busy here with 39 horses exercising on the AW and grass gallops.

An exciting time but to be honest we could do with this weather breaking because a lot of the horses are now ready for a run and there are plenty of nice fixtures coming up in the next 10 days.

misty cool down  Ground is holding the moisture well though as evidenced by it being good to soft at Ascot for an enthralling Champions Day finale to the flat season, delighted to see they have brought racing forward so that we can then move straight on to the quarter finals of the Rugby World Cup, a feast of sporting entertainment – just as well that I am having plenty of fresh air this morning, Lucy on the other hand is in her car making the long day return to Stratford where she rides Ralphy Lad in the 4.40 and Jumeirah Liberty in the 5.15.  No imminent racing for us but we have Massini’s Lady, Road to Gold, Frankie’s Promise, Dutch Canyon and McGinty’s Dream entered at Carlisle next Thursday – have a good weekend,  I shall  enjoy what is likely to be the last quiet one for a few months.

Road to Gold is an imposing athletic son of Gold Well recruited from the Irish pointing field, he should make his stable debut soon and has been working well with some solid yardsticks.
