Blowy again, to say the least, but a busy and productive morning on the gallops with the horses appearing fresh and well. Newcastle tomorrow and no problems anticipated for their all chase card, the ground will be heavy and holding and whilst our four runners should be ok on it they would prefer a shower or two to loosen it up but, as they say, be careful what you wish for.
We run The Orange Rogue in the 1.30, Stephen rides and four run, we can’t quite work out his trip – he is bred to stay well but his style of running perhaps makes him more suited to 2m 4f, tomorrow we are trying a hood on him just to help him relax, if it works he should go close but there is always the possibility that it sends him to sleep completely.
Little Glenshee runs in the 2pm, Lucy rides and six run, she was only beaten half a length in this race last year and runs tomorrow off 5lb lower, it’s also her first start back at this trip since then so we are hopeful she can return to form however Rocking Blues does look like a winner without a penalty having been travelling well when tipping up 3 out at Ayr last time.
Then Tipsy Dara (Stephen) goes in the 3.45, ten run, she ran well for a long way on her seasonal debut at Kelso and has come on since then so she ought to run a decent race. Finally Clan Chief runs in the 4.20, nine run and Lucy rides, he won round here last time over hurdles and ought to be better over fences – not at all sure about holding ground for him but his last 3 races have been abandoned so he has to take his chance.
