Breezy today, and rain again, not as mild as forecast and the ground tomorrow at Newcastle is heavy, no surprise there.  We have 4 declared runners starting with Bertalus in the 11.45, 6 run and Lucy rides.

The Orange Rogue - touch wood he usually pays more respect to fences!

Then in the 12.15 we run The Orange Rogue, 6 run and Stephen rides in what looks like a tight little handicap, this horse seems in great order, will love the ground and should appreciate he step back up in trip, he is quirky though and curiously saves his best for windy days.

Clan Chief

Then in the 1.20 Clan Chief reverts to hurdles, Lucy rides and 8 run, this wasn’t really the plan but in the absence of an ideal race over fences this looks like a good opportunity.

Gold Opera

Gold Opera

Finally we run Gold Opera in the 2.30, he will be better over further but I didn’t want to risk bottoming him out on only his second start over fences and he ran well at this trip last month so can hopefully build on that, 6 run and Lucy rides.  A fruitless trip to Uttoxeter for her this afternoon to ride Snuker, always a good work out and at least Newcastle is on the way home.

Well, I did warn him that it had been wet - The Fife Farmer sadly had to abandon his brand new Shogun as it slowly sunk into the Kinneston bog...
