A wonderful day’s racing at Ayr yesterday and plenty of the excellent prize money over the two days remaining in the North – memo to self – have a hatful of runners at this meeting next year. No show for Lucy in the SGN but delighted she was given the opportunity to ride in such a prestigious race.
Blustery today, strong north-westerly has been blowing for 48 hours now and at last some April showers, just as well as the Fife Farmer’s newly sown oats were in danger of blowing into the middle of Glenrothes. I trust this weather will ensure no repeat of the awful fog that we had a Hexham a fortnight ago, we head there tomorrow with 5 intended runners starting with Frankie’s Promise in the 3.00 – 14 run, Lucy rides and whilst this looks competitive he is in great form and I think he will run well if he copes with the hurdles, ground and drop back in trip – ground is currently good to soft and could do with some rain as may be very tacky otherwise.
Then in the 3m chase at 3.30pm Daasij runs, 11 run, he is fresh, well and on a nice mark over fences if he can get the hang of the job and he won at the track over hurdles, Lucy rides. An Uncle/Nephew challenge in the 4.30, 9 run including Jamie on Backontheroad and Kit on Ocarina who won this race last year, there is much more strength in depth to the race this year but again both appear in good form. Finally Lucy rides Clan Legend in the concluding bumper at 5pm, 9 run, hopefully the saddle won’t slip this time and he will run well.
