Cool still and whilst bright and sunny this morning it has been a wet week so the ground is saturated, a busy morning on the yard and the horses seem very well.  Hard to believe but fortune continued to favour us yesterday with another double at Newcastle including our shortest priced ever winner – 1-14 were the skinny odds returned on Lake View Lad, made me feel a bit like Willie Mullins, and he did indeed win very easily, great to get a confidence booster under his belt after a tough race at Kelso and he will most probably head for his summer break now.

Then later in the afternoon a first success for The Orange Rogue, placed on 10 of his 15 previous starts few horses deserved more to win a race and I’d like to think he can progress from here next season.

Morpeth point-to-point tomorrow and we plan to run Christmas in USA, Wicklow Lad and Royal Chatelier – hard to know what the ground will be like with so many localised showers about so we may even run Here’s to Harry as well but before that we have another cracking day’s racing at Aintree with the highlight being an exceptionally high class renewal of the Grand National, be lucky everyone and come home safe….

Time for a bit of this soon...
