Gritty stuff at the Lanark point-to-point yesterday, heavy snow en route then intermittent snow showers throughout the day, cold temperatures and wet ground but a good and enthusiastic crowd gathered to watch competitive racing with plenty of runners.  They tend to go a strong end to end gallop round this sharp flat track and most races were fast and furious, none more so than the closing NPPA Club Members and I was delighted that Ocarina outstayed his rivals to win under Kit.  This horse lost his way a bit under rules but after a spell field mastering the Buccleuch hounds with Ian Stark he seems to be finding his confidence again in the racing sphere.  Earlier in the afternoon Backontheroad made a highly satisfactory debut for Jamie to finish 4th in the Mens Open.

Routine work on a cold morning today here but hopefully we will be heading to Ayr tomorrow if the meeting survives a 7.30am inspection. We run Elmaatigra in the 1.50, 9 run and Wilson Renwick rides, he will be better when things dry up a bit but he is extremely fresh and this isn’t a particularly strong novice hurdle.

Lucy then rides the next three runners starting with Milano Magic in the 2.20, 7 run, this is quite a competitive little race again he is very fresh and he should go well.  Then Academy in the 2.50, big concern about the ground but it doesn’t look a great race, 8 run and Finally Rossini’s Dancer in a very hot looking 2m 4f Handicap Chase, would have preferred to wait for an easier opportunity but he doesn’t really have any other options this month.

In the mean time Mrs A has adopted a new role of jockey’s chauffeur and  they are about to speed off to Catterick where Lucy rides Torredelarocca in the 4.40, home late no doubt – might be time to face up to the lasagne – needs must!
