Cold again today but fair and we are avoiding the snow, let’s hope the same applies at Kelso where they are staging an excellent card tomorrow on ground that is likely to be soft. Lots of interesting horses running including last year’s Grand National winner Many Clouds. We start with two horses in the first race at 2.05, Been Decided (Stephen) and Heilan Rebel (Lucy) – both of these horses are in good form but are still learning their trade and are likely to be better over further in the future, 11 run.
In the 2.40 we are taking a chance dropping Gold Opera (Lucy) back in trip but he won over this distance earlier in the season and it is a small field for a good prize, he is wearing a visor to sharpen him up and hopefully he will run well, 6 run. Then Lake View Lad (Stephen) faces a stiff test in the 3.15, whilst I am far from sure that dropping back in trip on better ground is ideal this was the logical next race for him and he appears to possess plenty of class and speed so fingers crossed he can run a big race, 6 run.
Tipsy Dara (Stephen) runs in the 4.25, she ran a good race in defeat at Carlisle last week and should give a good account of herself again if they get some overnight rain, 12 run. Finally Marlee Massie goes for the four timer in the 5.00, he is in good form but will do very well indeed to defy the handicapper again, Lucy rides and 13 run. If we survive that lot then we will head to the point-to-point at Alnwick on Sunday where we have Afterclass, Rossini’s Dancer and Wicklow Lad entered – what we run will depend on the weather between now and then.
