Cold, today, north wind.  A brief and businesslike blog in the light of the dreadful news regarding Freddie Tylicki yesterday, the racing world will rally round in support but this is a tragedy. A great jockey cut down in the prime of his career – my heart goes out to him and his family.  Pleased with overnight rain for Kelso today which has turned the ground good to soft all round and we have five runners starting with Christmas in USA in the 12.35, this horse showed good form in France and has plenty of ability but we are very much still finding our way with him, 10 run and Lucy rides.

Christmas in USA

Christmas in USA

We have two runners in the 1.45, Another Mattie (Lucy) and Landecker (Kit), 6 run, the former is stepping up in trip on his seasonal debut and will no doubt come on for the run but he is at his racing weight and has been well at home, Landecker is slipping down the weights and tends to save his best for Kelso.  Heilan Rebel runs in the 3.30, Lucy rides and 10 run, he drops back in trip today and wears cheek pieces for the first time but has questions to answer.  Finally Off the Hook makes her racecourse debut in a decent looking mares bumper at 4pm, Lucy rides and 9 run, she is a lovely mare for the future and will learn a lot today.  Lucy also rides Sky full of Stars in the 1.10 amd Kit Ange des Malberaux in the 3.30, both for James Ewart.  Yesterday at Hexham Dutch Canyon jumped well and was a little bit free but lost interest a long way out, visor back on him, Been Decided foundhis first handicap a bit tough on such a testing track.
