We had to settle for two seconds from our two runners at Kelso yesterday, they both ran to their best and is was particularly heartening to see Isla Pearl Fisher bounce back to his best after such a lacklustre effort last time, other things on his mind that day, he returned with a nasty over-reach but fingers crossed should be fine after the excellent veterinary care on the track, oh to be a horse, no 4 hour wait in A&E for him.  First day of the 25th running of the Perth Festival today and the opening day of their 2014 season which promises to be busier and better than ever, we have 5 runners on what should be lovely fresh good to soft ground.  Another Mattie (Lucy) runs in the 2.10, 11 run, there are a couple of unexposed types in opposition but he has a chance.

Landecker

Landecker

Landecker (Lucy) runs in the 3.15, the Future Champions Novice Hurdle and this excellent prize has attracted a high quality field, he will need to improve again for the step up in trip to be involved, 6 run.  Rossini’s Dancer runs in the 5pm (Lucy), 10 run, he steps up in trip and will hopefully be his disinterested performance last time at Newcastle behind him, then 17 run in the Amateurs Hurdle at 5.35 including two from Kinneston;  Milano Magic has to shoulder top weight but seems fresh and well and will appreciate the drop in class having been mixing it at some of the big tracks earlier in the season, Kit rides and Allforthelove (Russel Lindsay) should hopefully improve for the better ground and first time cheek pieces.  We have the TBA here this morning and at Perth we are entertaining the board of the BHA so a busy and hopefully enjoyable day beckons….
