A special day’s racing at Kelso yesterday, a lovely atmosphere with a large crowd gathered to pay tribute to the Champ, one could sense that everyone just felt pleased to be there and be part of it, good racing as well and some smart performances.

No runners tomorrow but planning on 3 at the Percy point-to-point on Sunday – Afterclass, Rossini’s Dancer and Royal Chatelier – all seem well and should run with credit.  Then hoping to be busy at Carlisle on Monday and Wetherby on Tuesday so plenty of planning required, much easier now that Catch is organising the team, as well as a full yard in training here we have a small group of summer (Perth) horses being prepared along at Milldeans, they are in their second week being ridden after a month on the walker having been out in the field until Xmas, will start cantering on Monday, two with good form are for sale and we could squeeze two more in so do contact me if you would like some summer fun and to fill your bank account with some of Perth’s excellent prize money!  A photographic debrief from yesterday with many thanks to Caledonia Sween & John Grossick for the excellent photographs..

Standintheband's jumping was excellent when he was spot on but very rusty when he wasn't, he travelled well for a circuit and a half but his 14 month lay off caught up with him after that

Having not had a fall for 14 months Kit very nearly made it 3 in a row when Monogram made this bad mistake, somehow he sat it and recovered to finish a close 3rd, he would have been closer without this!
