So, a very mixed week weather wise, I became a little over-excited on Boxing Day as I was able to work horses on grass for the first time for several weeks but that was all rather short-lived as the rains have returned and sogginess resumed.  Wet at Kelso and tomorrow’s fixture needs to survive a 7am inspection, if it goes ahead we have four intended runners, all of whom I hope will handle the heavy ground and will be ridden by Lucy.  We start with Milano Magic in the 12.20, 14 run, he is fresh and well and I hope for a little improvement in first time cheek-pieces.

Milano Magic

Then in the 1.25 we run Caught in the Act, 9 run; a going, course and distance winner earlier in the season he then somewhat inexplicably disappointed at Hexham, just hoping for a proper effort tomorrow.

Caught in the Act (aka “Romeo” – curiously christened as such by his previous assistant trainer JGB…)

Little Glenshee makes a quick reappearance in the 1.55, 7 run, this is a good race for her and she seems well but it does come quickly after her slog in the mud at Haydock last week – egg on face time for trainer?  Hope not, but I expect a restless night worrying!

Then in the 2.30 we run Or de Grugy, 7 run, he also seems in good heart but is 17lb higher than when he won here in October.

Lucy also rides Circus Clown in the 3.30 for Jim Goldie, she has had a busy week and by tonight will have racked up over 1500 miles since Christmas Day yielding one winner, her first for Sue and Harvey Smith, hopefully I can drive her tomorrow…
