A stormy week but quieter now and we certainly appear to have missed the worst of the weather; although busy with the horses a quieter few days have allowed us to have a very happy family Christmas. Have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful feast of televised racing over the last three days and looking forward to being busy ourselves over the next week, we start with Kelso tomorrow where we have seven declared and the ground will be soft with heavy places. In the 12.00 we run Allforthelove (Kit) and Marlee Massie (Peter Buchanan), 10 run and I hope both of these young horses will improve on their efforts to date. In the 12.30 The Flaming Matron is declared but this comes quickly after her run at Newcastle last week and I will see how she is in the morning before committing her.
In the 1.05 Or de Grugy returns to his favourite track with Peter Buchanan on board, 5 run, he seems well and should go close if his age isn’t catching up with him, then in the 1.35 (gosh, we are going to be busy – when’s lunch?) Little Glenshee drops back in trip for her first handicap with Kit riding, 8 run, she seems well and will love the ground but top weight against experienced rivals may not be ideal. Milano Magic is declared in the 2.45, Brian Harding rides but it may have gone a bit too soft for him and I will speak to the owner in the morning as to whether he actually runs, tempting though it is with only 4 declared. Finally in the 3.15 Peter Buchanan rides Another Mattie, 12 run and he shouldn’t be far away if he can reproduce his recent Wetherby form on the softer ground. There we go, early bed tonight me thinks..
