So, autumn rains arrive and we have 5 declared for Kelso tomorrow who will hopefully all run if the forecast is correct and the ground continues to ease.  Lucy rides our first four runners starting with Frankie’s Promise in the 1.35, 10 run, a winner of his last two bumpers he has schooled well but may find 2m round  here a bit sharp for him, in the 2.45 we run Another Mattie, 10 run, conditions should be perfect for him but he has a few pounds to find with a couple of them.

In the 3.20 Wicklow Lad makes his stable debut, he seems at his best on very deep ground but hopefully tomorrow will blow away a few cobwebs and set him up for a winter campaign, then we run Fleet Fox in the 4.35, 11 run, he was inexplicably disappointing in his two runs last season but he may have had excuses and he has been working well, finally Capital Venture runs in the 5.40 with Diarmuid O’Regan on board, 13 run, this is a pipe opener for a chasing campaign but its an open race and he could go well.  All of these horses are making their seasonal debuts and I expect them to improve for the outing, firm ground has prevented us doing the usual faster work on grass but they have all done plenty of steady stuff on the all-weather, interspersed with bits and pieces on the riverbank and our harrowed track, it will be interesting to see how fit they are….. Lucy also rides Scotswell in the 2.10 and Stanley Bridge in the 3.55, six in a row for her but no doubts about her fitness;  we have a new section on our website – horses in training – pictures, breeding and owners
