A glorious morning and the forecast indicates an Indian Summer this week; oats away, straw to be baled and hopefully they will be in for the carrots and potatoes, bags of space for exercising horses.  A trying day yesterday with a couple of Sunday turnout calamities, no fun but hopefully OK in due course (“relatives have been informed” as the BBC would say);  I admire the fortitude of those Trainers that resolutely keep turning their horses out with each other, every year I find that at a certain stage the cost benefit analysis tips, they are just too fresh and well now and they really don’t know how to look after themselves, apologies to those waiting for their weekly report, unexpected lorry driving instead.

Only two and a bit weeks to go until the Referendum and disappointing to see things turning nasty, hardly surprising after the vitriolic spat between Salmond and Darling last week, oh for some reasoned and sensible debate.  A second meeting this afternoon between racing industry representatives and the Scottish Government Department of Sport and Physical Activity, perhaps our masters in the future.

I am there with a sort of Perth/NTF hat on and will put my bit in regarding the possible way forward, a complex situation and full of uncertainty, just like everything else I suppose;  to be honest we need representation in Holyrood whatever the outcome, the industry is very well represented in Westminster.  Lucy riding on the flat tomorrow, Hamilton 4.25, Roc de Prince.
