Cold, wet, windy – wintery weather and some truly attrocious conditions en route to Haydock yesterday; sadly the rain missed the racecourse and although Wicklow Lad ran well enough to finish 6th I had been hoping the ground would be heavy.  A tiresome journey home for him but more especially for Amy with a puncture causing a 5 hour wait on the hard shoulder of the M6, back in the early hours and seems none the worse though I haven’t seen Amy yet!  Over at Newcastle  The Flaming Matron and Daasij both found the minimum trip too short but having been outpaced stayed on well to finish 4th, particularly pleased that Daasij jumped fences well and he should be seen to better effect when stepped back up in trip.

Amy leads in Wicklow Lad last time at Carlisle - they had plenty of time to get to know each other during an enforced stopover on the M6 - 10 hour journey home....

We are skipping the Xmas fixtures at Sedgefield and Wetherby and will be concentrating on preparing the horses for a busy New Year starting at Kelso next Sunday, let’s hope the weather continues to behave.  So, no more blogging until the end of the week, just leaves me to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas!
