Snow gone and replaced by a ripping south westerly which was doing a grand job of drying things up until it added heavy rain and sleet this afternoon, the only surprise is it isn’t snowing, thank goodness.  Newcastle lost to the elements yesterday and Musselburgh must survive am early inspection tomorrow as frost is expected back tonight, changeable is an understatement.  So, weather permitting we will have 7 runners there on what will be soft ground, The Flaming Matron gets the ball rolling in the 12.40, Stephen rides and 7 run, I wouldn’t have thought of her as a Musselburgh horse nor am I certain she stays 3m but she might do at this track and she is slipping down the weights.  Then in the 1.10 we run Always Tipsy, 10 run and Stephen rides, he was runner up over course and distance last time out and will hopefully run well again.

Sorry - no time to upload 7 different pics of tomorrow runners but a couple of good pics taken by Dennis Penny at Kelso

We run two mares in the 1.40, 8 run and Lucy rides Presently Tipsy and Stephen rides Spinning Away, both are still learning their job and should improve for the experience.  In the 2.10 we run Whybutwhy, 9 run and Kit rides, he reverts to hurdles here where he is slightly lower rated, this looks like a very competitive handicap and I suspect he might find easier opportunities back in novice company in due course.  Kit rides Bracing in the 3.10, 8 run, she was also runner up recently over course and distance and should run well providing it doesn’t come too soon.

Last but not least  Benny’s Secret makes his racecourse debut in the concluding bumper at 3.40 with Lucy on board, it’s well known that we hold this horse in high regard, he may or may not be a bumper horse and I would prefer a more galloping track but we have to start somewhere so hopefully he will have a nice introduction.  Lucy also rides Aristo du Plessis in the 1.10 and Avidity in the 2.10. With two lorries heading for Musselburgh and another scheduled to go to Haydock in preparation for Saturday not to forget the point-to-point on Sunday we look like being quite stretched, a rare “4 lot” day beckons tomorrow for those here, just hope the weather behaves.
