Much cooler today, a damp haar in off the North Sea and rain in the forecast this week, can’t complain – wonderful weather for the last few weeks and the farm and the racecourses could do with some rain now, preferably not too much too quickly which I fear may well be the case.  Spell-binding golf at Muirfield in fabulous conditions, we were there in one form or other for the first three days, even managed to persuade Lucy to come with me on Friday, I was up at six to leave at seven and was only slightly surprised to hear that she was up at five to have an hour in the gym first – her dedication paid off the next day with a hard fought win in the valuable ladies race at Cartmel on Life and Soul for Donald McCain.

Lucy winning on Cyflymder at Musselburgh last summer

Lucy winning on Cyflymder at Musselburgh last summer, they team up again tomorrow

They treat all the winning connections very well down there and she arrived home late on Saturday night laden with sticky toffee pudding and champagne – not much use to her but goes down very well with the rest of the family!  She is back there today to ride Grethel in the 2.45, Sergeant Pink in the 5pm and Pete in the 5.30 then to Musselburgh tomorrow to ride Cyflymder (pronunciation please?) in the 5pm.
