A surprisingly sharp frost today but plenty of early morning birdsong hinting that spring is round the corner and a doughnut frenzy in the tackroom after first lot – what is going on?  A trying week (Commercial Express and Buffalo Ballet both had setbacks and wont run again this season)  ended on a much better note when Native Coll defied his 13 years and a double penalty to win in convincing style under Kit at Alnwick yesterday; despite winning there at the previous fixture he was sent off the outsider of the seven runner field but he had clearly come on for his seasonal debut and he made all to win nicely and reward some of his canny supporters, rather strangely he seems to be improving at 13.
