Cold and dull but dry this morning and plenty of schooling to be done now that it has dried up a bit.  One runner at Carlisle today, Tipsy Dara in the 4.50, only 4 run but a tight little handicap on ground that will be testing, Stephen rides.  Five runners declared for Ayr tomorrow on ground that will be soft and tacky, we start with Benny’s Secret off top weight in the 12 runner 2m 4f handicap at 2.30, he’s fallen his last two starts but is basically a very sound jumper and the trip and track should suit him well, less sure about the ground, Lucy rides.

Then in the 3.05 we run Gold Opera, 5 run, Lucy rides, track, trip and hopefully ground should be fine for him.  In the 3.40 we run Clan Legend, 5 run, Lucy rides, he is high enough in the weights now but is a course and distance winner from earlier in the season that will be happy in the conditions.

We will probably run Little Glenshee in the 4.15, 4 run and Lucy rides, she is likely to be declared for the mares hurdle on Saturday and may wait for that if there looks like being overnight rain. Finally we have More Madness in the 5.25, Kit rides and six run, this is a switch to hurdles for him and although he is out of the weights he still runs off an attractive mark.  A disappointing day at Newcastle earlier in the week (we all have plenty of those!) and I am inclined to blame the exceptionally holding ground. Titian Boy didn’t build on his Ayr 2nd, it may have come a bit soon, Heilan Rebel and Been Decided will both be better over further in handicaps and The Orange Rogue was busy all the way and doesn’t quite stay 3 miles on holding ground in those circumstances though he still finished a noble 3rd.
