Damp and dull at Ayr today but milder again after an unexpected frost this morning. One lorry at Ayr today and another en route to Haydock for racing there tomorrow. Ground there will be heavy which should suit Lake View Lad well in the 2.45, 10 run and he deserves his chance to step up in grade for this good prize, Stephen Mulqueen rides.
We also have two runners at Newcastle where the ground will be good to soft, kit rides them both starting with Christmas in USA in the 2pm, 15 run, I was pleased with his effort at Sedgefield last time and this track should suit him better, he can certainly win a race off his current rating but suspect he might be more effective on softer, will hopefully run well.
Am also hoping for a decent run from Elvis Mail who will be our first ever 3yo runner in the junior bumper at 3.10, he’s as nice a young horse as I have trained and has done everything we have asked of him at home with ease, guess others may be more tuned up tomorrow but he should have a bright future.
At Ayr today Moore’s Novelty didn’t jump as well as he can out of the heavy ground but ran ok and at least has a bit more experience under his belt, Craiganboy moved into the race nicely but lacked gears in the closing stages, he returned with a nasty wound to his foot which may explain this. In the bumper Peak of Beauty ran a vastly improved race to finish 6th which was most encouraging.
