A welcome winner at Hexham yesterday after what felt like a long and challenging week with Rossini’s Dancer putting up a career best to score decisively under a very positive ride from Kit. I was sticking my neck out a bit by putting him up and the way the week had gone I fully expected him to come off at the first and was steeling myself for the consequent berating from all and sundry but he more than repaid my faith and hopefully we will be able to use his 7lb claim to good effect through the winter. Later in the afternoon Milano Magic returned to form with an excellent second under Lucy who had also finished runner up to Kit on Allanard.
Earlier we had a busy and productive morning here, I managed to watch first lot here then zoom over to Lucinda’s to watch Pause and Clause, Spinning Away and Ceilidh all work nicely there, then back here for 2nd lot before heading off for Hexham, along with checking over our Carlisle runners and assessing a couple of “in-training” injuries it did make it special to be rewarded with a couple of good runs after the long drive and guess what, Hexham now gives free tea and coffee to owners, progress indeed.
It appears that the costs of our little Italian tour in August continue to accrue, being “a Brit abroad” in my little mini-bus I sort of assumed that the “Traffico Limitato O Zona Pedonale” signs in the beautiful town centres that we visited needn’t really apply to us, unfortunately they appear to have been taking photographs and the fines are now trickling in accompanied by hefty admin fees from the rental company that they appear to be able able to take straight off my credit card… help! – very important to get to the post ahead of Mrs A now…. This week we may run Daasij at Huntingdon on Tuesday, thereafter Kelso on Saturday but would appreciate if all the rain in the South would drift North, still very dry up here.
