Quiet weather, cool, fog drifting about.  A busy 48 hours looming and we kick off with a replacement fixture at Ayr tomorrow on heavy ground.  Whilst I am very disappointed that there are no opportunities for the handful of horses we had going there for last week’s abandoned fixture at least we have the opportunity to run three horses that missed other engagements due to the weather.

Moores Novelty (nearside – 3rd time lucky!)

We start with Moores Novelty in the 11.55, he would prefer better ground but is in great order and has been ready to run again for a few weeks so hopefully he will run well as he continues to learn his job, 10 run and Tony Kelly rides.  Then in the 12.30 we run Craiganboy; he reverts to hurdles due to the absence of opportunities over fences and looks nicely enough treated on his better hurdle form, he’s in good order and will like the ground, track and trip- Brian Hughes rides and 12 run.

Finally we run Peak of Beauty in the bumper at 3.25, she was a little monkey on her debut last time at Kelso so I am hoping she will focus better on her job tomorrow – very much part of a learning curve though, Stephen Mulqueen rides and 12 run in what looks like a decent enough bumper.

Peak of Beauty

At Musselburgh on Monday Final Reminder ran a most bizarre race – she went with bags of enthusiasm but hung violently left throughout almost running of the course, she then stayed on well and wasn’t beaten far at all.  Lucy performed a pretty remarkable job keeping her on the course but unfortunately paid a price in straining muscles badly – these are taking a few days to settle down and whilst she had hoped to ride at Ayr tomorrow she will need another day or two.  The horse herself pulled up a little lame but thankfully seems fine now, she clearly has plenty of ability if we can iron out this little quirk.  Later on the card Dance of Fire put up another lacklustre effort which was very disappointing as he had been going well at home, not sure he wants to know about racing any more, Benny’s Secret and Moores Novelty were withdrawn on account of the ground having turned to good.
