Mild again, and damp, heavy ground at Ayr yesterday and will only be deeper today.  Two declared runners starting with Clan Legend in the 2.20pm, Lucy rides and 6 run, I’m not at all happy about having to run in this race on these terms (carrying a 7lb penalty against horses rated up to 17lb higher than him) but he needs another run in novice company before taking on experienced handicappers and there are few alternatives, he should love the ground, has won at the track and despite their lofty ratings most of the opposition don’t convince as chasers yet.

Clan Legend wins on his chasing debut at Hexham last month – today will be very different

Then in the 3.30 we run Gold Opera, 9 run and as he has top weight on heavy ground we are putting up Blair Campbell who claims 7lb, he should run well back here at Ayr providing he doesn’t get stuck in the mud.  Lucy also rides Sky Full of Stars in the 4.00.

Gold Opera

Calivigny did get stuck in the mud yesterday and was never travelling in the conditions, we will wait for some spring ground for him now, Craignaboy ran a nice race to be 4th, Little Glenshee put up her best effort of the season to finish 3rd and The Bishop just seems to be out of form at the moment.

Little Genshee yesterday, perhaps her swansong?
