Still cold, school frozen but gallop holding up remarkably well. Let’s hope Ayr’s efforts in covering the track pay off and racing goes ahead there tomorrow, they have shown further enterprise by staging a last minute replacement fixture there on Friday, well done all round I say.
Assuming it passes the 8am inspection the ground is likely to be heavy and we have four declared runners starting in the 1.50 with Clan Chief who returns to the track for the first time since winning his bumper there early last year, Lucy rides and 12 run, there are a few decent prospects in this and I expect our horse to improve again for the experience.
Then in the 2.50 we run both Another Mattie (Lucy) and The Orange Rogue (Stephen), 10 run, both of these horses are relatively inexperienced over fences to be taking on fully fledged handicappers but I still felt this was easier than the novice race earlier in the card, hopefully they will go a sensible pace on the ground and if their jumping progresses as it should then either could be involved as I think they will both prove to be well handicapped in time.
Finally we run Northern Acres in the 3.55, 9 run, Lucy rides, an ordinary sort of race and he could go very well if he is the right mood. Lucy also rides Premier Grand Cru in the 12.40 and Harry the Lemmon in the 3.25.
