Cold and wet this morning, 3 degrees, icy, steady rain; fierce but brief blizzards yesterday en route to Ayr where we had a more ordinary sort of day on what was exceptionally testing ground; Allforthelove can be excused on that basis but once to the well too often with Wicklow Lad, no harm done but lacklustre, six races in ten weeks on heavy ground was one too many, greedy trainer, we live and learn and for that reason Makhzoon bypasses today, too much to ask on that ground and I don’t want to overface our nice 4yo bumper horse Dutch Canyon in those conditions so we are left with Little Glenshee in the 3.40, 6 run and Lucy rides.  She reverts to hurdles today as this is a nice race for her over a trip and ground that should suit and although she won over fences last time I don’t think it will do her confidence any harm to have a spin back over the smaller obstacles.  Then tomorrow off to Alnwick where we plan to saddle three runners with Kit on board; Ocarina, Present Potential and Here’s to Harry.
