Cold, blustery wind this morning, icy showers, snow not far away but horses working well, mostly on the all-weather.  Off to Ayr tomorrow where they appear to have missed the worst of the week’s rain, ground will still be a testing soft with heavy places.  We run Isla Patriot (Peter Buchanan) and Daasij (Lucy) in the 2.10, 10 run.  Isla Patriot should improve for his last run at Hexham when fitness was slightly lacking, Daasij won his last three races in late spring 2011, he has a 500 plus day absence to overcome but seems fit and well.

Daasij last summer

Then in the 4.20 Here’s to Harry makes his racecourse debut for Ray Calder and Jan Scott, I love everything about this horse, he is by Hellissio out of our mare Harrietfield and has size, scope and is very honest- a 1m 6f Newcomers Bumper won’t see him in his best light but its a nice course to introduce him at and he shouldn’t mind the ground.  Lucy rides him and she also rides A Southside Boy in the 1pm, Heez a Steel in the 2.45 and Kealigolane in the 3.45.  Today she is at Wetherby where she rides Marino Prince in the 1.30 and One for Luck in the 3.45.  Great to be racing at Ayr again in November but disappointing that we wont be back there until 2013, as possibly the best jumps track in the North it is a shame there aren’t more fixtures this side of Christmas.
