A wonderful day yesterday to open Perth’s Festival and 2016 season and it looks like more of the same today.

More Madness leads the way

More Madness (visor)

An OK sort of day for us yesterday, Presenting Rose ran and jumped well but was eased after the last to finish 6th, Stephen had felt something was amiss and she came in with a nasty little cut, it was quickly attended to by the vets and it should be fine in a couple of days but summer holidays for her now.  More Madness never really travelled on the fast ground, he has also never won over hurdles, we will look for another race over fences for him before he heads to the sales at the end of May, this was always the plan for him and he will make a cracking point-to-pointer for someone,  Jet Master somewhat saved the day by running an excellent race to finish 3rd – he seems to like Perth and good ground so we will keep him going through the early part of the summer at least.

Back up there today with four runners starting with Celestino in the 2.30, Lucy rides and a maximum field of 18 line up, he has been disappointing but I am hopeful that a return to the minimum trip on better ground will see him in much better light.  Then we run Landecker in the 3.00, Lucy rides and 8 run, this is a competitive handicap and the trip may be a bit sharp on this ground but he is in good order.20150423-610_2764_original  Also in very good shape is Rossini’s Dancer who runs in the 4.30, 8 run and Kit rides, the course, trip and ground should all suit well and he’ll run a big race if, of course, he is in the mood.  Finally we run Benny’s Secret in the 5.05, Lucy rides and 13 run, another fiercely contested handicap I very much hope he remains well treated  – but how well treated are some of the others?
