Turning milder now and some rain due tomorrow where we are heading back to Ayr for their last minute additional fixture. They deserve plenty of credit for their efforts in staging racing yesterday, it is no mean task to cover an entire racecourse in frost covers and it paid off as there is no way they could have raced without them, other courses should take note as it is so disheartening for everyone when racing is abandoned. We had a mixed sort of day, Clan Chief and Another Mattie both blundered away their chances by unseating whilst still travelling well, slightly frustrating but all home in one piece; we were delighted with The Orange Rogue who came 3rd on only his second start over fences, he should improve for a step up in trip, and Northern Acres finished strongly to grab 2nd on the line under a strong drive from Lucy so very pleased with him as well.
Credit due also for putting on this additional fixture tomorrow, whilst a fixture staged at 48 hours notice is never going to attract big fields but there is plenty of quality on offer with a dood few Southern and Irish raiders. Clan Legend makes his hurdling debut in the 1.45 on what will be very soft ground, Stephen rides and 11 run, a nice introduction is all we are hoping for, then Marlee Mourinho runs in the 2.20, Stephen rides and 5 run, one or two of the opponents may prove well handicapped in time but this horse should progress again for his good 2nd at Newcastle last time and with luck in running shouldn’t be far away. Odd having Lucy there but not riding for us, she has a busy day with Trouble in Paris in the 1.15, Scorpions Sting in the 1.45, Un Guet Apens in the 2.55 and Touch of Steel in the 3.55.
